Poetry

June 2017

It was a bluesy sound

comin’ in off the river,

a mournin’, woman-gone

sound, a saxophone’s quiver,

the midnight mist mojo

risin’ up off the river,

Pearly Brown in the shadows,

walkin’ down by the river,

‘round about  midnight

got them down-river blues,

those slidin’ past midnight

moanin’ Coltrane-soul blues

driftn’ down Bluesy River,

that lonely ol’ moonshine river.
